Adult Education

     There are numerous opportunities for adult education throughout Lancaster County. Following are some of the possibilities.

     Nurses Training School at Lancaster General Hospital; School for practical nurses operated by the vo-tech schools; Consolidated School of Business, in Regency Square in Lancaster, offers diplomas and Associate in Specialized Business degrees in such business administration areas as legal, medical, travel and tourism, and computerized office and accounting management.

     Adult Enrichment Center, Lancaster (English and Spanish for high school diplomas, citizenship classes, business courses, job counseling); Adult Basic Education, operated by I.U. 13, (preparation for the G.E.D., classes for home-bound adults, English as a Second Language, basic education for the physically/mentally challenged and training for the deaf); The Open Studies Programat Pennsylvania School of Art and Design offers credit and noncredit courses for adults and youth. A Desktop Publishing certificate is also offered; Penn State Extension Services (noncredit courses in all subject areas relating to agriculture and family living); Informal adult classes by many groups, including the YMCA, YWCA, Jewish Community Center, Landis Valley Farm Museum, American National Red Cross, and Womens Alliance Libraries.
