Early Childhood
Education
Early
childhood education in the county is supplied through government-supported
and private sources. Subsidized nursery schools are located throughout
the county, and full-day care centers are provided in the City, Elizabethtown,
Ephrata, Reamstown, and New Holland.
Some
public school districts run half-day programs, and the Community Action
Program provides full-day care for children, including comprehensive health
and social services, and also offers Headstart, a half-day pre-school
developmental program for low income children.
I.U
13 runs pre-school programs for children, ages 3 to 5, with special needs.
A complete directory of early childhood programs is available from the
Lancaster Information Center.
