Department of Economic and Community Development

     This department is charged with the growth of economic development and downtown revitalization. It administers Community Development Block Grant Funds and serves the Lancaster Redevelopment Authority and the Lancaster Industrial Development Authority.

     Bureau of Planning — The planning bureau is responsible for all land-use controls and for the planning of community improvements, including planning for the use of federal community development funds. Activities include zoning and subdivision regulation, historic preservation, energy conservation, litter control, housing planning, and both land and economic development. The bureau also issues dance hall, theater, and taxi licenses.
