Public Libraries

There are 13 member libraries in the Library System of Lancaster County: Adamstown Area Library, Columbia Public Library, Eastern Lancaster County Library (New Holland), Elizabethtown Public Library, Ephrata Public Library, Lancaster Area Library on Duke Street with branches in Leola, Manheim Township, and Mountville, Lititz Public Library, Manheim Community Library, Milanof-Schock Public Library (Mount Joy), Mores Memorial Library (Christiana), Pequea Valley Public Library (Intercourse), Quarryville Public Library, and the Strasburg-Heisler Library.

Library cards, available free upon presentation of identification, are valid at all member libraries and the Bookmobile. Most borrowed materials may be returned to any library regardless of where they are checked out. A computerized catalog links all member libraries, and an inter-library loan service allows materials to be shared throughout the county and borrowed from libraries across the nation.

Library programs include book discussion groups, author visits, and art exhibits. For youngsters, activities include the Summer Reading Program, toddler and pre-school story times, puppet shows, after-school programs, and special family events.
